It’s no secret I am a lover of all things dill pickle. And ever since the craze of my Dill Pickle Soup recipe, I have found a camaraderie with many dill pickle aficionados around the globe. If you do not have a deep affection for the dill pickle, then this butter might not be for you. It’s okay….more for us.
Making flavored butter is also somewhat of a thing for me. I have a refrigerator full of little ramekins filled with different butter flavor experiments. It all started with my youngest son who does not like mayonnaise (something I can barely wrap my head around), but enjoys butter on his sandwiches. Isn’t that a British thing?
Anyway, I felt like he was missing out on some flavor in his sandwich with not loving mayo. I began adding seasoning to butters for his sandwich. Bingo, they were a hit. The butters I make for him are simple with slight flavoring (garlic powder, onion powder etc). However, the flavored butters I make for myself are a little more gourmet and I like to push the limits.
It was only a matter of time before Dill Pickle Butter creeped its way into my life.
I am happy to eat this dill pickle flavored spread on toast, with nothing else. However, it is also amazing on toasted bread made for a turkey sandwich. The plain turkey lets the dill pickle flavor shine through. Just try it.
Adding a tiny bit of finely chopped dill pickle enhances the flavor.
It’s perfect just like this.
