Whip up these Low Carb Air Fryer Pickles in minutes. The perfect guiltless snack for any gathering.
I love, love making and eating Fried Pickles. They are the perfect snack for so many occasions. However, they can definitely be a high calorie and high carb snack that doesn’t always fit into your diet plan. By making these air fryer pickles, a low carb snack that also happens to be keto friendly, you can easily have a second helping. They are just as delicious as my Low Carb Bacon Cheeseburger Salad.
Can You Air Fry Fried Pickles
It sounds like a redundant question and it doesn’t mean you are going to deep fry and then air fry. And the answer is yes! The pickles are made just like you are preparing them to go into a vat of hot oil, however, you just add them to the basket of your air fryer and turn it on. It’s so easy and without the oil mess.
How Do You Make Air Fried Pickle Chips
Making air fryer pickles requires setting up a dipping station, just as if you were making chicken picatta.
Dip pickle chips in pork rinds, egg mixture, then in almond flour mixture, coating both sides and lightly pressing flour mixture into chips. You can spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, I did not and it was fine. Place pickle chips in the air fryer basket in a single layer; spliting into batches. Air fry for 8-10 minutes.
As you dip the pickles, place them on a large tray covered in parchment paper.
Here they are in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
What Temperature Do You Air Fry Pickles At
I set my air fryer to 390 degrees F and I do not preheat it. The pickles are done and crispy in about 8-10 minutes. Keeping them in a single layer and working in batches is how you want to do it.

Do you need to dry off the pickles when first getting started?

I usually pick out all my pickles and place them on a paper towel lined baking tray before getting started.

Yes, 5 pickle slices.
Constance Johnson says
Is there any way to make these and then bring to a pot luck and still have them be crispy?
Cathy says
You would have to reheat them in the oven.
Meredith says
I’d like to make these but I’m curious – is there something else I could use besides pork rinds? I follow a vegetarian diet which is great but in cases like this can also be such a bummer!!
Cathy says
The pork rinds is what makes it low carb. If you don’t mind the carbs you could use bread crumbs.
flkb says
Is it for 5 pickles, it’s 6.3 carbs??? That sounds like a lot unless I’m totally off, which wouldnt be surprising. đŸ™‚ and can I omit the almond flour?
Cathy says
That’s actually really good considering what fried pickles would be with regular white flour. If you omit the almond flour you won’t have any breading and therefore, just regular wet pickles.

*Disclaimer: I am not great in the kitchen and this was my first time using an air fryer.*
I just made these, and they were definitely a hit! I added a tablespoon of garlic powder to the dry ingredients and lightly salted them after they were cooked. Make sure you gently shake off any extra crumbs after you dip them in the dry ingredients. I Was playing with my new instapot duo, so I made these with a few different types of pickles just to test it out (and because I already had several open jars of pickles on hand.) The dill stackers were way to big and the breading didn’t stick well. I also tried cutting them into strips which helped a little. I also tried the dill ovals they are smaller than the stackers but bigger than the usual dill chip pickle. Unlike the stackers, the ovals have ridges. The batter adhered to them much better than the stackers, but the size still meant the children had to eat them in multiple bites which created a crumbly mess. Finally, I tried the dill pickle chips. These are where I should have started. lol They are small and have ridges. They are what is traditionally used for fried pickles and worked better than any of the others. Overall, these are flavorful, filling, and were a wonderful afternoon treat. I will be making these again!
