- Salt
- Butter: Adds richness and a buttery flavor to the cookies.
- Granulated Sugar: Sweetens the dough…obviously.
- Instant White Chocolate Pudding Mix (or Vanilla flavor): Enhances the texture and flavor of the cookies.
- Eggs: Binds the ingredients together and adds moisture.
- Vanilla Extract

How To Make M&M Christmas Cookies
Find the complete recipe with measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Step One (Prepare the Dough)
In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set it aside. - Step Two (Cream the Butter and Sugar)
In the bowl of your stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar on medium speed until it’s nice and fluffy—about 2 minutes. Add the powdered pudding mix and mix until it’s fully incorporated. Then, add the eggs and vanilla and mix again. - Step Three (Mix in the Dry Ingredients)
With the mixer on low speed, slowly add in the dry ingredient mix and stir until everything’s combined. Toss in the white chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of M&M’s, then mix them into the dough. - Step Four (Chill the Dough)
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge for at least 1 hour to chill. - Step Five (Preheat the Oven)
While the dough chills, preheat your oven to 350°F. - Step Six (Shape the Cookies)
Once the dough is chilled, scoop it out with a small ice cream scoop (or just a spoon) and roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter. - Step Seven (Prepare for Baking)
Place the dough balls on a parchment paper or Silpat-lined baking sheet, making sure to space them about 2 inches apart. Top each dough ball with extra M&M’s and white chocolate chips for some extra sweetness. - Step Eight (Bake the Cookies)
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, starting to check at the 8-minute mark. They’re done when the edges just start to turn golden brown. They might look a little underdone, but don’t worry—they’ll firm up as they cool. Just be careful not to overbake! - Step Nine (Finish and Cool)
Once they’re out of the oven, let the cookies continue cooking on the tray for a bit. If you want, add more white chocolate chips and M&M’s on top, then sprinkle with some Christmas sprinkles. Let the cookies set for a few minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack.

Recipe Tips
A few tips to make these cookies even better:
- Use slightly softened butter for a super soft, tender texture. Just make sure it’s not completely melted.
- Chill the dough for at least an hour before baking. It helps the flavors develop, makes the dough easier to work with, and stops the cookies from spreading too much.
- Grab a small ice cream scoop to get evenly sized cookies. This helps them bake more evenly and look nice and polished.
- Keep an eye on them while they bake. They’re done when the edges are just turning golden. They might seem a little underdone, but they’ll firm up as they cool.
- Don’t be afraid to mix things up with add-ins—try nuts, dried fruit, or different types of chocolate to make these cookies your own.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I freeze the cookie dough? Yes. Portion the dough into balls and freeze. When you’re ready to bake, there’s no need to thaw—just add a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
- Can I experiment with different pudding flavors? Absolutely. You can try different pudding flavors like vanilla, cheesecake, or butterscotch for a unique twist on the classic recipe.
- Can I adjust the sugar in the recipe? Yes, you can adjust the sugar to suit your taste. Just keep in mind that changing the sugar amount might affect the texture and sweetness of the cookies.
- Can I customize the M&M colors? Definitely. You can switch up the M&M colors to match different themes or events throughout the year.
- Can I change the size of the cookies? You can adjust the cookie size based on your preference. Just remember that smaller cookies will need less time to bake, and larger ones will need more time.
