Have you been looking for a sweet treat to serve after a satisfying meal? This one combines coffee and chocolate in an absolutely “no fuss” recipe.
No baking is required and the cake sits on top a scrumptious cream and is perfectly delicious.
I know it looks like nothing sitting in its bowl, but really it’s quite decadent and requires no baking skills…you are going to love it!
Espresso Cream Cake
Adapted from Taste of Home
Serves eight
2 Tablespoons instant espresso powder
2 Tablespoons hot water
1 carton (8 oz) Mascarpone cheese
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
1 prepared angel food cake (8 to 10 oz)
1/2 cup coffee liqueur such as Kahlua
2 teaspoons cocoa
In a large bowl, dissolve espresso powder in water; cool. Stir in cheese.
In a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar; beat until soft peaks form. Stir 1/2 cup whipped cream into the cheese mixture, fold in the remaining cream.
Serve Mascarpone cream with cake. Drizzle each serving with liqueur and dust with cocoa.

I love these easy desserts made with angel food cake. This one is a winner and I’ll be trying it soon. Another we love is layering an angel food cake with pistachio ice cream. That flavor seems to go beautifully with the cake.

This is delicious! I made it for my sister’s birthday party since she is a lover of espresso. She is against having alcohol, however, so instead of kaluha I melted some nutella and drizzled that over the top. Anyone considering making this recipe, I highly recommend it.
