It was my birthday this past weekend and we HAD to have a few appetizers and a glass of sparkling wine before heading out to dinner. I am lucky enough to currently have a fridge full of goodies sent to me by Vermont Creamery. I had never tried their products until recently and I am so pleased with what I’ve found.
It all started in Austin this past June while I was attending Blogher Food. I sat down for breakfast and the girls from Vermont Creamery were also at my table. We chatted it up and it was interesting hearing about all the wonderful things they make in Vermont at the creamery, especially goat cheese.
I received a message recently they were sending me a package of treats and oh my goodness, there were some amazing goodies in that box.
Creamy goat cheese is new to me as I’ve only tried the ones available in the log shape. I really loved the packaging on this one, it’s perfect for tossing in the picnic basket. While this cheese came in a sweet little round container, it is also FULL of largely, chopped red peppers. I was really amazed. The flavor doesn’t disappoint with that characteristic goat cheese tang, but it’s smoother and has the peppers mixed in. It’s addicting too.
One taste and I immediately knew I wanted it with avocado, and a little salt and pepper. It was so perfect for a quick, before-dinner bite. The creaminess of the goat cheese makes this an elegant snack to serve your guests or your family.

Don’t you just love the roasted red pepper cheese!? I spread that stuff on anything I can. These crostinis look fabulous. Love anything that involves avocado or Vermont Creamery! PS. Happy Belated Bday!
Cathy says
Yes, it’s kind of amazing. No other goat cheese I’ve tasted is that good!

Happy belated birthday! I’m always looking for easy appetizer recipes and this looks amazing! I love how you use the goat cheese to keep the ingredients on the costini. It’s no fun biting into a crostini and everything falls off. Lol.
Cathy says
Thank you and I know what you mean, one bite and it falls off. Always a bummer.
Amy @ What Jew Wanna Eat says
These look delicious! Avocado and goat cheese are some of my favorite ingredients ever. I made a similar crostini on my blog yesterday with goat cheese, apples and honey!
Cathy says
That sounds delicious!

I love creamy goat cheese! It’s so good on appetizers, as well as in desserts if whipped up with some sugar and cream.

I’ll have to try that.

Living in the northeast, I should be able to find this goat cheese pretty easily and I can’t wait! Love that you’re working with smaller, family businesses, it makes so much sense to me. This recipe looks divine, your pics are fab and they’ve made me hungry to see what I’m going to put together for dinner. Thanks Cathy!

I buy Vermont Creamery goat cheese at Whole Foods. Great packaging! I like to stuff peppadews and mini bells with that tart creaminess.

These look perfect for the next football game. I imagine they would be delicious with mushroom as well.
