Add some flare to your summer barbecues with these delicious Spicy Frozen Mango Margaritas. They are the perfect amount of heat and sweet to complement any meal you can dream up.
I kind of went mango crazy at the market the other day. They are so perfect right now! Not that you can’t buy frozen mango year round, but I prefer to buy them fresh, cut them up and freeze them for later use.

I used to despise cutting up mango with its odd-shaped seed. I felt like I was wasting so much of the fruit as I sliced around haphazardly to find the seed and save the flesh. Then something changed my mango-cutting life, I purchased a mango splitter. It’s kind of the second best thing I have (in terms of kitchen gadgets) next to the this citrus juicer. Seriously, the mango splitter is life-changing. It finds the seed and slices the mango perfectly around it, separating the flesh from the seed. Even my teenager was impressed with it. Do you know how hard it is to impress a teen? Trust me, it’s hard.
I rimmed my margarita glasses with my favorite chile-lime seasoning to help counteract the sweetness of the drink. Turns out it was the perfect choice according to my highly trained food tasters!
I used Tajin Seasoning, it’s available pretty much everywhere. Usually found in the produce aisle and I also see it at Costco. The Hispanic community taught me to sprinkle it on my fruit and I tend to love it on avocado toast. It’s so versatile. It’s also what makes my 5-Minute Spicy Lemon Broccoli a hit. As far as I’m concerned it’s a must in the kitchen if you love flavor.
And I know we are all grown ups here, so I don’t need to nag and remind that good cocktails start with quality ingredients, not just the fruit used, but the alcohol. Do not use that icky gold tequila for these margaritas. A good quality silver tequila is a must as well as Cointreau (which I use in almost every cocktail, even my incredible mojito).
When you hand these to one of your guests, they are going to feel like they have hit the jackpot. They are also going to want seconds so be prepared.
The color is beautiful and all natural. Are they gorgeous or what?
I think when Cinco de Mayo comes around, these are going to be on the top of my list of drinks to serve.
Garnish with lime slices if you like.
I hope you enjoy these refreshing drinks. Let me know if you make them and how they turn out. I have this feeling you are going to love this recipe.

Spicy Mango Frozen Margaritas
Ingredients
Jalapeno Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 medium sized jalapeno pepper, halved, seeded and deveined
Margarita:
- 1 teaspoon Tajin seasoning or other chile-lime seasoning
- 2 cups ice cubes
- 2 cups frozen cubed mango
- 1/2 cup silver tequila
- 1/4 cup Cointreau
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 6 tablespoons jalapeno simple syrup
- lime slices for garnish
Directions
- For the simple syrup, stir together water, sugar and jalapeno in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook for one minute over medium heat and remove from stove. Let stand one hour. Cool completely before using in the margarita. If you make ahead, you can chill in the refrigerator for several days. You might want to pour through a sieve if any pieces of the jalapeno have separated.
- On a small plate sprinkle Tajin seasoning. Dip the rim of each glass in water or lime juice and dip in seasoning to line the rim of the glass.
- Process ice, mango, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and simple syrup in a blender until smooth. Add additional simple syrup after tasting if you would like more sweetness or jalapeno flavor. Pour mango mixture into the glasses and serve immediately.
- Notes: You will have leftover simple syrup left over. You can use it to make more margaritas or save it in the fridge for up to two weeks.
