Strawberry Sauce

Bottle up this simple Strawberry Sauce to always have on hand. Use it as a finishing touch on everything from waffles to buttermilk pancakes, on top of cheesecake, drizzled over vanilla ice cream or spooned over shortcakes. It's the strawberry topping recipe you're going to use all summer long.

Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce:

  • 3 cups chopped strawberries (make sure they are hulled unless they are red all the way through.
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Instructions

Strawberry Sauce:

  • Add chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan set over medium heat. Bring to a boil and immediately turn down to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.

  • Strawberry mixture will visibly thicken and change to a more vibrant red color, while most of the strawberries will break down.
  • After 10 minutes, remove from heat and leave to cool. Add to a food processor or blender and pulverize until smooth.
  • Refrigerate if not using right away.
