Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 24-cup mini muffin pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Whisk in the milk and egg until smooth. Stir in the mozzarella and pepperoni, then let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 3/4 tsp. baking powder, 3/4 cup whole milk, 1 large egg, 4 oz. shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese, 4 oz. pepperoni
Stir the batter again and divide it evenly among the mini muffin cups. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until puffed and golden.
Warm the pizza sauce in a small saucepan until heated through, then stir in 1 tablespoon of basil.

Sprinkle the puffs with the remaining 1 tablespoon of basil and serve with the warm pizza sauce for dipping.
