  • 16 spears (about 10.5 oz./300 g) asparagus (each stalk about ½-inch/1.3 cm thick)
  • 2 tbsps. (30 ml) olive oil
  • ½ tbsp. (4 g) garlic powder
  • 2 tsps. (12 g) table salt
  • 2 tsps. (4 g) black pepper
  • 16 strips (about 1 lb./454 g) of bacon (standard-cut)
  • 1/4 cup (25 g) Parmesan cheese (grated fresh if possible)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Spread the asparagus spears out on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.

  • Wrap one strip of bacon around each spear in a spiral. Place them back on the pan with space between each.

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until bacon is crisp and browned.
  • Let cool a few minutes, then sprinkle Parmesan over the top and serve.
    1/4 cup (25 g) Parmesan cheese

Notes

  • Use asparagus that’s about ½ inch thick—thinner spears overcook before the bacon crisps.
  • You can microwave the bacon for 30–45 seconds before wrapping to help it render and crisp more in the oven.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts better than pre-shredded cheese.
  • This dish is best served fresh and doesn’t freeze well after baking.
