  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cranberries, ½ cup of granulated sugar, walnuts, and golden raisins.
    2 medium baking apples (such as Granny Smith, Jonathan, Rome Beauty or York Imperial), peeled, cored and sliced, 1 cup fresh cranberries, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup golden raisins
  • Butter four 5-ounce ramekins or one 8x8-inch baking dish. Evenly distribute the apple mixture into the prepared dishes.
  • For the topping, in a medium bowl, combine the eggs, all-purpose flour, butter, remaining ½ cup of granulated sugar, orange zest, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix with a fork until the mixture is smooth. Evenly spread the topping over the fruit mixture.

  • Place the baking dish or dishes on a baking sheet and bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is tender. Allow to cool slightly on a wire rack. Before serving warm, sift confectioners' sugar over the top.
