Blueberry Margarita

This Blueberry Margarita recipe is a twist on the classic with a harmonious combination of tequila, Cointreau and freshly squeezed lime. Served with a salty, citrus rim, this fresh blueberry cocktail is quick and easy to make and irresistibly refreshing.

Ingredients

Cocktail Rim:

  • 1 lime
  • sea salt flakes

Blueberry Margarita:

  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries, plus extra for garnish
  • 0.75 oz. fresh lime juice, 1-2 limes depending on how juicy they are
  • 0.50 oz. simple syrup
  • ice
  • 2 oz. silver tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau

Blueberry Margarita Garnish:

  • lime rounds
  • extra blueberries
  • sprigs of mint

Instructions

Cocktail Rim:

  • Zest one of the limes and mix it together with a handful of sea salt flakes. Cut the lime in half and run a piece of lime around the edge of a cocktail glass. Dip the glass rim into the lime salt and twist it around so the salt sticks to the rim of the glass. (You can juice what's left of this lime to use in the cocktail.)

Blueberry Margarita:

  • Place blueberries into a cocktail shaker and muddle until blueberries are completely squashed and all juices have been released.
  • Add lime juice and simple syrup and muddle again.
  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice and add tequila and Cointreau. Shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 30-40 shakes.
  • Fill rimmed cocktail glass with ice and add a small handful of blueberries and a couple of sliced lime wheels. Pour the shaken cocktail into the glass through a strainer and garnish with a sprig of mint.
