Just kidding – well, not really.
The dishes are the buzz kill of the evening but my husband and I use that time to talk about how much fun we had at our dinner party while doing them. I don’t like to wake up to a messy kitchen. I’m with you on not wanting my guests to help. I have to force myself to not immediately start cleaning up but it’s always worth it because I don’t want to miss out on any fun 🙂
We have a regular gourmet dinner group and I love it when the hosts pick a theme and hand out recipes. We just met this past weekend and had a great evening – we rotate houses so it’s not always at the same home.
Your party looks fabulous, Cathy! I love how your table is set.
Oh, I also love to pick a dinner party playlist. Music and lighting are the other key ingredients to entertaining.

I always always always have my table decorated and set for six. Even if I’m not planning a party. It makes the house more inviting even just for me and my husband.
