Exactly what I was looking for and absolutely delicious! I used two different kinds of apples–one more firm and tart, the other more soft and sweet–so that some would just sort of melt into the cake and the rest would hold up and have a bit of a bite. Perfect! The cake was not too sweet and was very apple-y. Just what I wanted. I did not finish the cake with the powdered sugar, but my daughter made a small bowl of cream cheese frosting to use on her serving and she loved it that way (as well as plain). I’m not sure the purpose of the layer of brown sugar and cinnamon in the middle, as it just melted into the cake, so next time I may just mix it all in and save a bit of extra work. I made this for Sunday dinner and it was so good. I had never worked with chile peppers before but you made it sound dobale and it was. What a delicous meal with tortillas.

Absolutely pefect little bites of lemon! I had never had the pleasure of these before and you’re right have never seen them at the Italian bekeries. But they were so good and are going on my Christmas cookie list for sure.
