I added a few smashed garlic cloves to the onions, as well as some bay leaves alongside the sage. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second time, I added a few allspice berries to the cider, which also turned out great.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is definitely a recipe that invites improvisation.
