I've just made this recipe and it is delicious. I tried the water trick and it works, however I've noticed that the little bit of guac left on my husbands taste-testing plate has not oxidized at all. His was not "water treated". I'm wondering if it's the addition of the ranch or mayo that keeps it green? Have you tried the water trick with other recipes?

Thanks for the great recipe and tip about keeping avocado dip f/ turning brown. I've tried putting lime juice one top and covering w/ plastic wrap and that doesn't work. Do you think the water "bath" would work w/ leftover avocado; i.e.,putting the halved avocado flesh side down in dish and covering w/ water?

In reply to <a href="https://noblepig.com/chunky-guacamole/#comment-444904">chris</a>.

I think the fat content of avocados is so high that it's basically shielded from absorbing the water. Nice tip - thanks!
