Hi, your cake looks wonderful and I’m going to try and make it for a friend’s birthday this weekend. How long does it take from start to the finish product, including cooling and glazing?

So I made this today as I said I would, and I made it word for word to the recipe, except I added more bacon and a teeny bit more coffee. I also forgot to add the eggs until after the flour had been incorporated and I just put in the bacon, thought it looked funny so I added the eggs, one at a time, and so far it looks okay, we will see when the cake is cooled and cut. Also I made a caramel glaze instead of the one yall listed in the recipe, because I thought the cake was chocolatey enough as it was and I wanted to play up the caramel tones that the coffee brings out in the cake. Can’t wait to pull it out of the oven!!

In reply to Melissa Kirby. That is good to hear because I don't like heavy coffee flavors, but if it comes out more as caramel that is good to know. I wonder if it would taste different if you made it with different types of coffee; i.e, dark roast, french roast, blonde roast?

In reply to sarah k @ the pajama chef. Definitely making this for my fiancé's birthday tomorrow!! I think the only cake he would like more would be a lox cake but I'm not sure how that would be possible :p Also, to me a lox cake sounds gross, but this chocolate bacon coffee cake sounds amazing!

How coffee-y is this cake? I’m not a fan of coffee flavoured stuff but really want to do chocolate and bacon! Has any substituted the coffee for anything else, such as hot chocolate?!
