I made this today and it turned out perfect. The Helms truck used to go to my mom’s house as a kid. She said she loved the cream puffs too. What a unique memory you have for yourself. Loved the story.

Yes, it goes in with the dough.

I set the shaped dough on a piece of parchment, then use it to lift and lower everything into the hot Dutch oven together. It makes the transfer easier and keeps you from having to drop the dough in.

It’s all in the printable recipe card at the end and you’ll see it in the process photos.
