I was recently hosted at Sunriver Resort in my beautiful state of Oregon. If you haven't been to Sunriver and stayed in this epic setting, it's time to make your way out to the Pacific Northwest and experience for yourself what everyone is raving about. See you there.
The devil may be in the details when it comes to a great vacation, but so is the secret to truly unwinding while you're there. I can't think of a better place to let go of all the stress of daily life than at Sunriver Resort.
It's not the first time I've been to Sunriver Resort and it certainly won't be my last! In fact my husband and I have toyed with the idea of settling into one of their communities (at least part time) once my boys are off to college. We'll see. I know I would love it and I can already imagine myself there.
Lucky for me, my friend Sandy (who helped organize this trip) currently resides in Sunriver and I get to vicariously live through all her Instagram stories every day. I never get tired of seeing all the gorgeous scenery. And even though Sunriver Resort is only a short three hours from my home, I feel like I am truly in a different place.
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to spend four days at Sunriver Resort with twelve of my dearest friends. Sunriver Resort graciously hosted us in one of the beautiful houses you too can rent when you come to stay (hint hint). And let me just say it was not a problem having thirteen of us reside in one house. There was so much room!
Fair warning...this post is going to be photo heavy as there is no better way to tell the story of Sunriver Resort than with a photo essay. Please enjoy.
The house we stayed in is located in the Caldera Springs area of Sunriver Resort. This neighborhood sits adjacent to the resort itself and has a whole slew of amenities you get to enjoy. What's really nice about Sunriver are the varying sizes of their vacation rentals, making them suitable for just about any occasion or size of your group. Think romantic weekend for two or family reunion...they've got you covered.
To see more pictures of the inside of this spectacular house, check out this post as my friend Sandy has captured it perfectly. I surely wouldn't mind staying in this house again one day. It was absolutely stunning.
The Caldera Springs house boasted this gorgeous patio, which really is an extension of your living space. We hung out here every evening as the weather in the Oregon high desert was still warm enough to enjoy happy hour outside. We definitely took advantage of the beautiful evening light, cool air and made lots of memories.
When visiting Sunriver Resort one of the things I look forward to most is the biking. They have 40 miles of paved, pristine (mostly flat) bike paths. It's so nice to get there and head to the bike barn to pick up your wheels for your entire stay. Biking to breakfast, dinner, down to the marina or the stables is part of the Sunriver culture and something you don't want to miss out on.
The meandering bike paths have you riding along the Deschutes River and under towering pine trees. The paths are so well marked you never have to worry about getting lost.
The biking is unquestionably enjoyable and I know you will love it too.
The Caldera Springs pool is nothing less than a gorgeous place to hang out and enjoy the sunshine. There is a restaurant, fitness center, playground and the most beautiful scenery everywhere you look.
With plenty of comfy lounges an afternoon of relaxation by the pool awaits.
It's hard to imagine a girl's weekend not focused on food and that is truly an understatement when it came to this getaway. If you go hungry at Sunriver Resort, something went wrong.
With so many dining options within the resort as well as nearby restaurants, markets and cafes, eating well and often is not an issue. We even had the resort's executive chef make us an incredible meal at our Caldera Springs house. Chef Travis is a rock star and I'm still blown away by the five course meal he made for us.
Here are a few pictures of most of the things we ate and drank on this trip. I'm still thinking about all of them.
I wish I could say this was everything, but there was so much more! Needless to say, the availability of good food in the area is amazing and plentiful. If you are a foodie, this resort experience and Oregon's natural bounty of incredible food is for you!
However, we didn't worry too much about the calories since biking and kayaking are a great way to stay active in Sunriver.
It doesn't get more picturesque than the Sunriver marina. And don't worry, they help you right out of your kayak so you don't even have to get wet.
When the local Whole Foods in Bend, Oregon packs your lunch for kayaking..you eat every last bite.
We didn't take the canoes out, but that is also an option.
With all the activity, a morning at the Sage and Springs Spa was a welcome reprieve. The inside of the spa was absolutely gorgeous, well-appointed and a plush place to relax.
We wrapped up our weekend with an evening at the Sunriver Lodge where you can choose to have a cocktail and sit by this roaring fire.
Or head outside to what they refer to as "the backyard" and enjoy the stunning view of the golf course.
Can't wait to go back.
Best weekend ever with the best girls ever. From the left; Me, Brenda, Cheryl, Lori, Amanda, Maria, Gina, Heidi, Sandy, Erin, Kristen and Mary.
And a big shout out to our sponsors who graciously and flawlessly made this weekend perfect!
Sunriver Resort...your hospitality was unparalleled leaving no stone unturned when it came to showing off your beautiful property. Thank you so much for your generosity. You are a class act.
Sage Springs Spa...Nothing accomplishes relaxation quite like a good day at the spa and our blissful pampering sessions were just what we needed to feel refreshed and renewed.
Hydroflask...thank you for bringing us unexpected refreshment, wherever our adventures took us. Best part, your flasks do not sweat and I need one in every color.
DeLallo Foods...we will never forget that ginormous charcuterie board made possible by all the bold, briny, tart, tangy and spicy flavors found in your delicious products.
Birdseed Food Co...hands down my favorite new granola. Thank you for making us a beautiful granola bar starring your lovely Birdseed Granola. Not a day has passed since returning home I have not enjoyed it for breakfast. Friends, use the code "LIVEWELL" to get 25% off your order. I promise you'll be hooked. No added sugar, gluten free if you're Celiac...all the good stuff.
Whole Foods Bend...where do I begin. You came to the house and prepared a waffle bar for breakfast. I'm still drooling. You filled our weekend with beautiful flower bouquets and packed us those amazing brown sack lunches for our kayaking adventure. Did you know Whole Foods offered these types of services? You all need to find out because it was pretty amazing.
Storyville Coffee...Do you know what it's like to have a barista come to your vacation house and make you the most amazing coffee you've tasted in a long time? Indulgent. Amazing. Welcomed. All of those things. However, there is WAY more to Storyville than just their amazing coffee. They have an incredible story and give 100% of their profits to helping others. Check them out because they are growing and will likely be coming to your area in the near future.
This post is sponsored by Sunriver Resort who provided us with a fun-filled weekend at their resort. Thank you for supporting the brands I work with, which in turn make this blog possible. As always, opinions are 100% my own.
