Refreshingly tart and delicious, this Grapefruit Cranberry Martini will have you in fun mode in no time. A few sips of this delightful cocktail and you will forget all about winter!
I feel like I’ve served up WAY more cocktails than usual this time of year. Why you ask? Winter! This winter has been something else. The Best Mojito and Clementine Margaritas got me through a lot of it. There has been so much rain and so MUCH snow in the hills of Oregon (where I live). It has truly been epic.
We normally get snow a couple of times during the winter and it usually melts after a couple days. No biggie. However, this year has been one snowstorm after another, followed by extremely low temperatures, turning the snow to ice and not melting for days and days.
Roads in Oregon are not salted and the area I live in is not really equipped to deal with so much of the white stuff. So you sit inside, don’t go out and the skies have been grey since late October. The struggle is real my friends I spent all day Friday looking at real estate in Hawaii because it was snowing yet again and I was to the point of….I JUST CAN’T EVEN anymore. You get me right?
Luckily the Friday snow melted and Saturday was beautiful. We ate fresh crab from Astoria on the deck, in the sunshine (heck it was 45 degrees, a new high) only to wake up to more snow on Sunday morning. Insert maniacal laughter here.
What I do know is these martini’s got me through it. ALL. OF. IT.
Anything citrus is the answer to the winter blues. Along with vodka of course. I have even indulged more in this Fresh Citrus Salad (the dressing is amazing) because it tastes like spring. I have also slathered on this homemade Zesty Grapefruit Sugar Scrub to make sure I am ready for shorts and tank tops when the time arrives. In Oregon that usually means the first 60 degree day.
Just the colors will put you in a good mood.
As you can see this lovely cocktail looks fabulous against the bleak, winter landscape. I swear it has magical powers.
There are so many ways grapefruit can be the star of your winter cocktail menu, starting with this Grapefruit Salty Dog. And I certainly wouldn’t turn down a sip of this Grapefruit Ginger Bourbon Sour, would you? A Spicy Grapefruit Margarita might be what you need to get you through the middle of the week. And Friday nights were made for Grapefruit Tequila Slammers, while Sunday mornings can be enjoyed with a glass of Sparkling Grapefruit Sangria, sounds good right?
Four years ago I made Loaded Sausage and Gravy Baked Potatoes and they were soooooo good. Six years ago these Chicago-Style Hot Dogs came into my life and have never left. Seven years ago it was Cornmeal Blueberry Scones for the win! And eight years ago this Asparagus Popover made my life.
