It’s that time of year when the house is stuffed to the gills with candy. It’s seriously coming out of my ears and cupboards at this point. Funny thing is….we don’t even get trick-or-treaters at my house. We’re just too far out in the country.
As a result, I have to find things to do with all the candy I have somehow accumulated. And honestly, I love baking with it. In the past, I’ve made this cake, and these other brownies. It’s a great way to spread the chocolate love.
This brownie has a crisp, crunchy center, with soft caramel from the Twix. It’s so delicious. You’ll see.
So, here’s the thing. These brownies are even more special than you think.
OXO sent me the above tools and challenged me to create an original brownie recipe to benefit Kids with Cancer. How awesome is that?
“Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by two OXOnians who were inspired by their son Liam’s battle with cancer. They were shocked to learn that childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease of kids in the US. The reason: lack of funding for new, improved, and less toxic therapies for cancers specific to children. The Witts knew they had to do something to make a difference for the more than 40,000 children in the US battling cancer each day.”
Each fall, OXO dedicates a portion of the proceeds of specially marked baking products to benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer as part of their $100,000 commitment to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
This gorgeous baking pan is what I used to make the brownies. Honestly, I now think it’s the nicest one I have. It would be awesome for cakes too.
I used parchment paper in the bottom of the pan so I could lift out the brownies and let them cool before cutting. The edges come out really nice.
And just in case you didn’t notice, this is THE perfect silicone brownie spatula. The shape, the weight, the thickness…it’s perfection.
If you have a baker in the house, this little dusting wand needs to be in their Christmas stocking. So perfect for the finishing powdered sugar look.
They are kind of hard to stop eating…fair warning.
I hope you make these soon!! I know you will.
