The week before you leave for vacation tends to be a little nuts. It’s a whole-lotta-days running around making sure you have everything you need. And when you’re the one doing it for the whole family…it can be exhausting. But worth it.
I picked up some new Nike Air Max this week, in bright PINK! We are so lucky to have a Nike connection here in Oregon. It means we get to shop at the Nike employee store. It is of course the only place my boys want/will shop without complaints. I will admit I also have no problem having cute, new shoes available on a whim.
We planted about 35 cedar trees around our property this week. We have a forested area on one side of the house we wanted to fill in with some evergreen trees. We are going to attempt to make a little nature preserve in this space under the canopy of the Douglas Firs, oak and maple trees that already exist there.
I received a new stitch fix box this week. I absolutely loved every item I received! My favorite was the Vermont Crew Neck Cotton Sweater in orange and white. It’s gorgeous. Also in my box, a magenta Westin Embroidered Henley Knit Shirt, the most adorable Toren Cropped Cargo pants in white, a Benton Striped Fringe Wrapped Scrap (love) and a super-luxurious Aleah V-Neck Heathered Dolman Sleeve Shirt. Have you signed up for Stitch Fix yet? You will love getting a box that is all for you!!
Yesterday afternoon we landed in Hawaii, our happy place. Spring Break 2014 is already off to a good start.
Our favorite band was playing last night at the hotel. They are an evening staple for us. We look forward to seeing them every year while we sip on a few Mai-Tai’s by the pool.
Yesterday was also my oldest son’s birthday. This lucky kid always spends his birthday in Hawaii since it usually coincides with his Spring Break.
But, have you ever tried to get a picture of a fourteen year old? They are very elusive. This is the best I could do as he was texting away in Waikiki last night. Oy vey.
We celebrated Ben’s birthday at Duke’s Waikiki, an iconic Hawaiian restaurant. What a view from our table.
And just what a fourteen year old wants, a tableside serenade of Happy Birthday and a song picked just for him, “Maui Boy” (lyrics were adorable). It was super cute even if he almost died while it was happening. He’ll never forget it.
