In my quest to keep my kids eating somewhat healthy over the summer I’ve really had to dig deep when it comes to snacking. When a group of teens descend on the house and it’s so easy for them to just grab a bag of chips, I have to be prepared.
It’s easiest to get the kids to try new things when they are in a group. It’s almost like a dare and they are all willing to take a chance on something new…even the picky eaters.
Since I was still working on my 10 lb Cherry Challenge, I was motivated to get these kids to snack on something a little more wholesome.
So not only did I have a ton of cherries, but Chobani had recently filled my fridge with lots and lots of Greek Yogurt.
I wasn’t even sure if the yogurt would adhere properly to the cherry. I thought it might slither off before I could get them in the freezer, however it worked great. The Greek yogurt is thick enough to stay on while you work on dipping all the cherries.
I added a little sugar to the yogurt to make it a bit sweeter and more appealing to the kids. They loved it! At first glance it looks like white chocolate, which really caught their attention. In 15 minutes, two pounds of cherries were happily consumed and we now have a new frozen, healthy summer treat.
I love the double-stemmed cherries, it’s almost as exciting as getting an egg with a double yolk.
