Happy Fourth of July 2012

Happy Fourth of July everyone! We will be spending the day eating watermelon lollipops and snacking on patriotic-sprinkled cupcakes. The grill will be going, the dog will be wearing her red bandana, fireworks will be late evening (since it doesn’t get dark here until almost 10 PM) AND it will finally be warm...I think we are going to make it to the 70’s! Finally!

I will be making this as an appetizer as well as a big batch of these….they are my favorites!! Luckily we are joining friends for a celebration, so I do get somewhat of a break in the kitchen.

We wish you a safe and happy holiday, watch over your little ones if they are using sparklers…it’s one of my top ten childhood injuries….ouch.

If you want to keep up with our activities (or what we are eating today), follow on Instagram or Twitter for random, mindless details!

Happy Fourth…let freedom ring! What are you all doing today?

Hubby and I will have Chicago style hotdogs and those BBQ oven fries. We can view the fireworks on 37th Street in Galveston right from our deck. If I can stay awake until 9:15 when they begin, that is. We might even enjoy a glass of wine while watching the fireworks. The younger folks have outings planned all day and all evening, but the old folks like us cannot keep up, so we prefer to stay at home and enjoy our more peaceful celebration. Of course, we can also enjoy watching the Houston Astros baseball game on TV during the afternoon. (between naps. :)) Happy 4th of July to you too!
