However, some things never change…like my oldest son always asking for a cheeseburger these days. He’s growing and always craving something different.
He wasn’t sure this Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese sounded good at first, but happily devoured it after taking his first bite. Needless to say it’s quite filling and no one needed dessert.
Just like my cheeseburger quiche, bacon cheeseburger salad or my bacon cheeseburger soup -all taste just like your favorite burger recipe.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 2 quart oval baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to boiling and cook according to package directions. Drain.
While pasta cooks, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add sirloin, breaking apart with a wooden spoon. Cook 6 minutes until no longer pink. Season with 1/4 teaspoon of the salt and the pepper. Remove from the heat and stir in ketchup and mustard. Transfer to a bowl.
Return skillet to medium heat and add butter. Once melted, whisk in flour, then add milk in a thin stream. Bring to a simmer and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat and whisk in remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and 2 cups of the cheese. Stir in pasta.
Pour into prepared dish. Top with meat mixture, remaining cheese, sliced tomatoes and bread crumbs. Spritz with nonstick cooking spray.
Bake for 20 minutes and increase heat to broil for 2 more minutes at the end.
A meal in itself.

I was wondering where you were! Good to see you back on and posting. Chemo got me down, so I am on a two week “vacation” so I can rebuild my immune system. Four months left to go! This dish looks like a good way for me to start building. I try to eat a lot of lean meat and veggies. Thanks for posting. Glad the wine business is doing so well for you.

I’ve missed seeing your new recipes! And what a coincidence: last night I looked up three of your mac and cheese recipes, and then you posted another one today! I just realized that I haven’t made the Gnocchi Mac and Cheese yet. My husband is in China right now, and that will be a perfect welcome home meal!
