- If you’re making this chai syrup for gifting, you can easily double, triple, quadruple etc. this recipe as long as you have a big enough bowl. However, I do recommend making it in a large pouring vessel because it will be easier to pour the finished recipe into jars if you have a pouring spout. Try using a 2-quart measuring cup for the best ease in filling the jars.
- Each recipe will fill one half pint jar with chai ice cream syrup (minus 2 tablespoons (keep that for yourself).
- Keep refrigerated for up to three weeks.
Gift Packaging Options
- Fill a half pint jar or other decorative jar (with a lid) with chai ice cream syrup. Tie ribbon around the jar and finish with a bow on top.
- Place a sticker on the jar with the name of the recipe, storage instructions and shelf life.
- Give the jar with a fun set of ice cream bowls and the best ice cream scoop, sprinkles and nuts for the ultimate family gift.
- Wrap the whole gift in cellophane.

Discover the Aromatic and Comforting Flavors of Chai
Chai is the Hindi word for tea. So, when we ask for chai tea, we are actually being redundant by saying, tea-tea. The term “chai” is actually the shortened version of the word “masala chai” which translates to “spiced tea” in Hindi.
We know Chai as a type of spiced tea that originated in India and has become popular around the world. It is made by brewing black tea with a blend of aromatic spices and herbs, such as cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
The spices used in chai can vary, but they often include a combination of warming and aromatic spices that give the tea its distinctive flavor. Chai is often served with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey. It can be enjoyed hot or iced and is a popular choice for those looking for a flavorful and comforting beverage.

Oh. My. Word. I am so totally making this next week–just have to go into McMINNVILLE to do grocery shopping on Monday. DH and I will drink this up, literally.
I really enjoy your blog, especially b/c I’m right in Newberg and it’s so fun hearing about places I know of. As a teenager I babysat for several families who were involved in winemaking and other local foods, so what you’re doing is near to my heart. I’ve watched vineyard space grow exponentially over the past 25 years–including right in my growing-up “backyard” in the Red Hills (think Russell Fuqua and Allen & Sally Holstein). So glad you’re here and loving it!
