Are you tired of eating the kids leftover cupcakes for dessert?
Bored with those chocolate chip cookies you have sitting around?
Tired of licking the frosting jar for just a taste of something sweet but don’t have it in you to make something better?
Well fear not. Things for you are looking up. They really are.
In five minutes flat you can be eating this dessert propped up in front of the tube watching reruns of the Twilight Zone.
This is also sophisticated enough to serve after a casual weeknight night meal with friends or an elegant dinner party.
It is the perfect end to any meal or just enough to satisfy that nagging sweet craving.
So come on…….get out your favorite ice cream vessel and in several minutes you will be transported on a magic carpet ride to somewhere very sweet. You will!
Here are the ingredients. Yes, that’s it! There will be no slaving here and the results will be sublime. You will need Vanilla Ice Cream or Frozen Vanilla Yogurt and Chambord Liqueur. Yep, I told you it would be easy.
Just the bottle makes you feel very grown up. A crown on my liqueur, that’s for me.
For those of you unsure about what Chambord is, well it’s full name is Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur. It’s made from raspberries, blackberries, Madagascar vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel (not sure why the Moroccan is superior), honey and Cognac. Sounding exotic? The raspberries and blackberries are steeped in the Cognac for a four week period allowing for the infusion of the spirit into the berry. Sounds holy doesn’t it?
It really is a wonderfully sweet smelling and nice tasting liqueur. I also love it poured into Champagne.
Now you just need your favorite vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt. I like Dreyer’s Double Vanilla. Sweet and Intense, need I say more.
Now pour the Chambord over the vanilla ice cream.
You’re done! Seriously you are.
It really does taste as good as it looks. And it’s very grown-up.
This is perfect for entertaining because there is no fussing with dessert.
And it’s so perrrr-ty.
To take it up a notch for that very nice dinner party…add fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint for garnish. Even whipped cream if you’re crazy!
I know you will enjoy this, I always do! In fact I Luhhhh-v it!

i don’t own any chambord and have never tried it, but it sounds pretty tasty. i’ve been known to devour a dish of vanilla ice cream (i’m partial to breyer’s natural vanilla) topped with warm blueberry pie filling. granted, there’s no alcohol-induced afterglow, but i enjoy it nonetheless. 🙂

Yum. I love that dish…is it a huge martini glass?

Your vivid description and lovely photos have caused me to rethink my previous version which would have been Grand Marnier and Vanilla ice cream. I may even start using the Chambord to treat my asthma when I run out of cough syrup!
But the ice cream first!
Thanks!

Decadent. Creamy. Covered in liqueur. My kind of dessert! Double scoop, please.

on my way to the liquor store…

This sounds like it would be really really good for wisdom teeth that have just come out…yes, indeed, it does…

When I read your title, I thought…OMG! Serious food porn!!
But this still is sexy and beautifully brilliant on the use of left overs!

If you like this, you should also try a similar dessert I was lucky to be served years ago in college:
Vanilla Bean ice cream, topped with a swig of
Sherry and a decent topping of
(real) Maple Syrup.
This is many times more delicious than you might imagine.

It seems silly bookmarking such a simple recipe! But I am, because I don’t want to forget to do this!
Maureen says
Mmmmm….and mmmmmm again! I think this trumps my usual vanilla ice cream with kahlua.

OMG – I even have Chambord Liqueur in my liquor cabinet – so it’s double adult – food porn and added liquor – life is good.
Jessica says
Aww bummer, i can’t have this! I like your glass with the winding stem though!

What is your word for Rachels YUMO?
I think your dessert is reason enough to run to the store for the ingredients. I’m going to place it all on a slice of pound cake. Then I can have “my cake and eat it too” this morning was cold and gray so I prepared pancakes with peaches and pecans mixed in the batter and it was so delicious……You rock Cathy! Pass the maple syrup and Chambord!
Nina says
Right up my alley – any form of ice-cream, topped off with liquer, mmmm
Grace says
Here’s another twist. Instead of Chambord, top your ice cream with a drizzle of your best basalmic vinegar. (not too much). It is crazy delicious (really!)
Kevin says
Simple and tasty looking! Great way to use the Chambord liqueur.

I’m emailing this to my husband. NOW.
Meg says
THAT looks insanely delicious, and I am making it…nuff said.

We’ve been doing this for a few years (note: this is a continuing effort!) and I have only one warning: Chambord is VERY sweet. Another version is raspberry cheesecake with an aperitif glass of Chambord. The waiter won’t understand, so BE SPECIFIC!
Memoria says
I like the blueberry pie filling idea better since I don’t drink alcohol. Or one could make a fruit glaze. YUM!
Jodi says
Haven’t tried this yet, but really want to. In office discussions, what sounds really good is to crumble a brownie in the bottom of the martini glass, topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chambord. Or, maybe with raspberry cheesecake ice cream. Or, a cheesecake marbled brownie. Chocolate, raspberry, cream cheese–doesn’t get any better. Mmmm
Barbara Brownlee says
Brownie with vanilla ice cream drizzled with chambord? OMG, that sounds amazing. I really just want the bottle. I don’t drink so I could reduce the chambord to get rid of most of the alcohol and drizzle the reduction over the brownie and ice cream. As they say on the IKEA commercial, “Start the car!” , I need to go to the liquor store!

I’ll be making this tonight. I’m sure it’ll be great. I’m going to garnish with whipped cream and fresh raspberries.
