It's Slow Cooker season, I'm sure many of you are as giddy with excitement as I am. However, even though cooler weather seems to scream for slow cooked meals, how many of you are like me and use the slow cooker all year long?
I personally love using the slow cooker in the summertime because it doesn't heat up the kitchen like the oven. So honestly, I use it all year long. It's an absolute godsend in the kitchen. And the slow cooker is not just for folks who work all day and need to start dinner early, it's also a great help for those of us who work at home, take care of children and are just busy. If you don't have a slow cooker, how do you get by? Is it that you don't have room for one or you don't find them useful? I'm curious.
I have had many slow cookers in what my husband refers to as my "appliance lair", but they have never fulfilled all my needs like this particular model Hamilton Beach has recently sent me. In fact, I'm in loooovve with it. Yes, I fall in love with appliances, I can't help it. I made this awesome chili in this particular slow cooker just this past week and it turned out perfectly.
Anyway, I've been thinking about what my first slow cooker looked like about 20 years ago. It was pretty primitive and kind of ugly, and weirdly colorful. They are so sleek now and match the stainless steel appliances in our kitchens. Such an improvement.
So, here is the main reason I love this new slow cooker, it gives me options. This slow cooker has
3 Choices for automatic cooking...
Probe ~ Set to the desired meat temperature and it automatically shifts to keep warm when temp is reached. (So helpful when slow cooking a larger piece of meat and the temperature is displayed on the control panel.)
Program ~ Set the cooking time and it will shift to warm when the time is up.
Manual ~ Works just like a traditional slow cooker.
Other Awesome Features:
~A clip-tight lid that makes it perfect for taking your slow cooked meals on the road.
~Power interrupt protection that will keep your slow cooker on during a brief power outage.
~6-quart stoneware crock that will hold a 6 lb chicken or 4 lb roast.
