(Giveaway) SweeTango Apples and Swag

Sweet Potato and SweeTango Apple Soup apples
Yesterday I made an amazing soup with these apples and shared it with you all. The SweeTango variety is one of our new family favorites. I’m still amazed I had not heard of these apples, especially since they are available in my regular grocery store and so many across the country.

A cross between a Honeycrisp and a Zestar!, Sweetango has been around for several years. Its very short season makes it paramount to seek out these apples right away, before they disappear until year. They are worth the hunt.

I am so excited to offer a lucky reader a case of SweeTango apples as well as some swag (pictured below). I know you are going to love these apples as much as I do. And if you would like to win a trip to Los Angeles and meet the celebrity chefs who developed SweeTango’s recipes, enter here.

A blog comment is mandatory in order to enter the contest on this site.

Just tell me about your favorite way to utilize apples in cooking and then click the button on the Rafflecopter widget below. This will unlock a bunch of extra entries to this contest. I would really like to perfect my apple pie recipe, plus homemade applesauce is soooo much tastier than store bought. Those are my favorite things to do with apples at the moment, but I’d also love to learn new apple recipes!

I can hardly wait for apple season to make my apple strudel. Eating them out of hand wins out in sheer numbers though. I think we each eat two to three per day.

I have a Gooey Apple Sheet Cake in the oven right now. Apple pie would be a pretty close second, and applesauce a close 3rd.

Love SweeTango apples! I actually prefer them (and the Zestar) over the Honesycrisp.

  22. I love baked apples. Such a simple way to use apples, and makes a delicious low-calorie treat! And, they even cook up beautifully in the microwave, usually in 2-4 minutes, depending on the number of apples and wattage of your oven! You can even add some raisins and/or brown sugar (or brown sugar substitute, such as Splenda) to amp up the experience!

Since I have two children with autoimmune disease, we try to eat as many homemade, unprocessed foods as possible, and starting with flavorful ingredients makes everything taste that much better!

My go-to hostess gift in the fall is a bag of baked apple chips. Everyone raves about them and they are eaten instantly.

I just slice apples with a mandolin, soak for a few minutes in simple syrup (just equal parts sugar and water, warmed so the sugar dissolves) then bake on parchment paper in a low oven until they crisp up. Sometimes I sprinkle cinnamon sugar on before baking.

Stacked up they look great in a cellophane bag with a ribbon and they really taste like apple candy. Which at that point after adding all the sugar, is what they are. But oh so yummy.

My family goes apple picking every year. Our favorite things to make from our apples, are apple cake and applesauce. I freeze a lot of the applesauce in zip lock bags. During the year we will eat the applesauce. It’s also handy to have on hand in case a friend gets sick. Applesauce always seems to help when you are not feeling well.
