Football season gets my mouth watering for Buffalo sauce. It’s kind of a given isn’t it? I mean, there is just something about the tang and the heat that keeps me looking forward to game day. Football = Buffalo sauce…it just does.
One of my favorite places to enjoy Buffalo sauce is on pizza…pepperoni pizza to be exact. I love it. I often put too much and my mouth and lips burn like heck…but so what, this sauce is one of my faves.
So I thought about what I wanted to use as my vehicle for Buffalo sauce for this year’s football festivities, hot dogs came to mind. But, just pouring Buffalo sauce on top wasn’t going to be enough. Therefore, I also made a Buffalo mayo to drizzle on top. And this is how Buffalo Hot Dogs were born. You can thank me later.
So, let’s recap…the hot dogs received a double dose of Frank’s…one straight shot and the other made into a Buffalo mayo and were finished off with celery and blue cheese. To. Die. For. I cannot lie.
So much flavor in each bite. It almost killed me to just have one…but Spring Break is coming and we must be good…right?
Also, if you have anyone who can’t take the heat, just give them the Buffalo mayo and skip the second drizzle of Frank’s. They will be less spicy. You can call them wimps behind their back:).
Dog perfection.

I agree, football = buffalo. I have been CRAVING it lately! I introduced my brother to buffalo sauce yesterday – as someone who loves heat even more than me, I was floored he had never had it! crazy.
I want one of these dogs now…

It’s like you read my mind. Hot dogs are my weakness. It’s healthy food all the time, except for the occasional hotdog.
I know I’ve told you this before, but I used to live in that crazy town that built the underground tunnel to save frogs! I got my Master’s there đŸ™‚

I was too tired the other night to make dinner, so grabbed some hot dogs out of the freezer. No buns, but Roly likes his in a tortilla anyway. Tried your idea of Buffalo hot dogs and we both just loved it. And, I’m not even a hot dog fan. Thanks for a great idea and will be doing these often on dog-tired days.

I came across this recipe on twitter. I now have a NEW favorite go to hot dog. I have loved Franks Buffalo and Red Hot sauce for a very long time, I never would have thought of putting it on a hot dog. Then to add Blue Cheese, another favorite of mine with come diced celery. I have eaten chicken wings and chicken fingers with this combination for many years, but now I have a new food item to talk about and get others to try. Thanks Cathy. I have found several other recipes on Noble Pig I am looking forward to trying. Something you may want to try with this or anything else Buffalo is a Blue Cheese Dip. Very easy to make: Equal parts of Mayonnaise and Sour Cream, add as much or as little of crumbled Blue Cheese as you like to it and then a little lemon juice (to your taste) Let sit in the fridge for a couple of hours or longer to let the flavors meld with one another. This is great Dip you can add to the Buffalo Hot Dog, Chicken Fingers/Wings or even fresh Vegetables.
