Eight is Great

When I put you to bed last night I selfishly asked you not to be eight today.  It's too big.  Too old.

You looked at me curiously and said you have to grow.  I asked why and your reply...to get big and get a good job.

Sigh.  There is just so much time for that.  You still have too many games to play, too many balls to bounce and so many things to learn.

You also promised we could always visit each other because you will always be my kid no matter how old you get.  Yes you will.  I'm going to hold you to that promise.

Thank you for another year of laughter, joy and fun.  You are truly a special little boy God has entrusted in my care.  I am so lucky to have you.

Love, Mom
