My Own Virtual Celebration

Last night, after Little League games, a potluck dinner, the Kindergarten play, kid's homework and bedtime stories, the Wild Boar and I opened our best Champagne.

We had something to celebrate.

As many of you know, for 10 months now, we have been in the process of purchasing vineyard property in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.  There have been many hurdles and setbacks along the way.  Buying dirt to use as agricultural land is not as straightforward as we thought it would be.

It involved replanting 22,000 trees, obtaining a homesite relocation, digging a well, and getting septic site approval, just to name a few of the hurdles.  I can now say, at around five o'clock yesterday evening, escrow closed and the property is finally mine!

Becoming the owner of lots of raw land is not as exciting as closing escrow on a house.  There are no keys to pick up from a realtor's office, no furniture to move in.  It's surreal trying to connect with something you bought and you're not even there.

Just an email from a title officer reporting, "It's yours.  Good luck."

However, I could not be more excited to enter this phase of my life.  It's something I set my sights on a long time ago and it's hard to believe it finally happened.

Thank you Wild Boar for doing everything in your power to make sure my dreams were realized.  I am forever grateful.

Now the real work begins...
